Where claims come from

Watch for flying debris from mowers, damaged sprinkler lines, and property damage to a client’s yard or vehicle. Your crews are on client property every day, and HOAs and property managers ask for certificates. A customer’s medical bills or a repair bill for someone else’s property can fall on you if you’re found negligent.

Two ways to protect the business

General liability (GL): covers bodily injury, property damage and, for most classes, personal and advertising injury claims. Limits run from $300K to $2M per occurrence, with aggregates at double the per-occurrence limit.

Business owner’s policy (BOP): A BOP can protect office property, and contractor equipment limits can be increased. Bundling everything in one policy keeps renewals and certificates simple.

Appetite notes for this class

Tree removal or stump grinding is excluded, as is tree trimming or snowplowing that’s more than half of operations, and snowplowing completed operations isn’t covered. General eligibility: up to $10M in revenue and 50 employees, one location per policy, no more than two losses in five years (none over $15K), and no prior cancellations or non-renewals.
